A SHARE OF HONOUR is set in March 1942. British submarines based on Malta are sinking so many of Rommel's supply ships that Berlin has ordered 'Smash that flotilla, at all costs...' So now this small, distinguished group of veteran submariners and their base become the prime target on the Luftwaffe's hit-list. In THE TORCH BEARERS, Nicholas Everard in his destroyer Harvester is sent down to Freetown, Sierra Leone, to command the escort for a large, slow, homebound convoy; but he's given neither enough escort vessels nor experienced commanding officers to protect the convoy adequately. U-boat commander Max Looff can hardly believe his luck - his nerve's going and he knows it, but here's a chance to destroy an entire convoy and earn the Fuhrer's highest approbation. THE GATECRASHERS, the last Everard story is set in 1943 and based on Operation Source, when six midget submarines (X-craft) were towed underwater from Scotland to north Norway by larger submarines and released there to attack the Tirpitz, Scharnhorst and Lutzow in Altenfjord.
